Abstract

In the terminal vascular bed of the renal fibrous capsule of men and dogs two different forms of capillaries are found. According to their arrangement, they are designated as net- and arc-capillaries. Five different types of arc-capillaries can be distinguished (Fig. 6). Both net- and arc-capillaries are alike in their wall structure and diameter. It should be emphasized that the arc-capillaries must be differentiated from the real arteriovenous anastomoses. It is pointed out that a certain confusion exists in the terminology used to analyze and describe the small blood vessels—especially in regard to arterio-venous anastomoses. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
