Abstract
- The article focuses on using microbial source tracking to identify the sources of fecal contamination in Patchogue and Bellport Bays on Long Island, New York. Topics include the potential sources of contamination; the use of genetic markers to determine contamination sources; and the findings of the study, which identified stormwater runoff and wetland drainage as the main transport mechanisms of fecal contamination in both bays.
