Abstract

This paper proposes underground cable's fault using raspberry pi. The paper aims to find the distance of faulty cable occur from the base station and also find the location of the fault. The paper uses the easy concept of CT Theory. Some other faults like short-circuited fault, open-circuited fault, the voltage drop may vary depends upon the fault occur in the cable from the station; since they vary with the current, Current Transformer theory is used to calculate the varying current. That signal helps to make the simplified calculations. The details and information of the faulty cable are sent through the internet. Underground cables are widely used in the development of power system grids. UG cables have a wide variety of faults occur which can occur due to climate situations, small problems like tears in the cable. Detecting fault source in the cable is difficult because the entire line digs into the ground and checks the faulty cable at which line is damaged. The serviceman knows the exact place in which part of the line fault occurs and only that area is going to dig the place and detect the fault source. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
