Abstract

In a developing country, like India women have to struggle more to pursue reputable profession and work tirelessly to arrive at equivalence to their male counterparts. Macro level factors, such as cultural and social norms play an essential role in the existence of gender-based violence within any country, including India. But, individual-level parameters, like observing violence between one's parents while growing up, absent or rejecting father, aberrant peer associations etc. also have significant function in development of such violence. Thus, it is important to evaluate assorted factors for domestic violence so that such hostility can be prevented from occurring in the first place. Hence, this paper for the first time in the world applies a novel multi-criteria decision making tool, Multi-Objective Optimization by Ratio Analysis (MOORA) approach to examine the reasons for domestic violence of working women in India.
