Abstract

In this research, the production of cobalt disulfide nanoparticles by hydrothermal and solvothermal methods with new raw materials and solvents has been investigated. Then, nanoparticles were characterized by X-ray diffraction, Energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, and Scanning electron microscope. Since the crystalline structure of synthesized nanostructures effectively increases the power of thermal batteries, the effects of such types of reactive salts, the ratio of reactive salts, solvents, and reaction temperature on the production process and its crystalline structure have been investigated. The results showed that changing the type of salts and the molar ratio of salts (1:2 and 2:1), and the type of solvent has no effect on its crystal structure. But, increasing reaction temperature and reaction time leads to an increase in the degree of crystallinity and increasing the size of the particles. In this study, optimum conditions for the synthesis of disulfide cobalt were the salts of cobalt acetate and sodium thiosulfate with ethylene glycol as solvent at 170 °C and 4 h. The amount of material in the reaction temperature was 9.31 g. The synthesized nanoparticles in optimal conditions were in the range of 40–90 nm. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
