Abstract

Normal walking has become the most commonly performed activity in daily human life. Many researchers have adopted the normal walking condition to study the bearing of total hip arthroplasty using realistic loads. Our research aims to evaluate contact pressure in bearing under normal walking conditions using the finite element approach. The 2D model was used to perform computational analysis of CoCrMo-on-CoCrMo under normal walking conditions. Five selected phases have been considered to represent walking activity as loading input. Contact pressure magnitude changes in line with a changed phase of loading input. Its distribution is also wider since higher loading is given under normal walking conditions. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
