Abstract
- Analysis of 207 cases of subclavian steal syndrome- described in the literature shows 45 per cent cerebral symptoms only, 40 per cent cerebral and arm symptoms, 10 per cent arm symptoms only, and 6 per cent no symptoms at all. Most frequent cerebral symptoms are attacks of vertigo, headaches, disturbances of vision and short-lasting unconsciousness and these brachialic symptoms: paresthesias, a permanent weakness and feeling of coldness. Often, the symptoms appear in form of attacks and are mostly short-lived. Some of the cases could be induced or worsened through physical work, especially when performed with the affected arm.
