Abstract: The article presents the results of a literature review which describes medication adherence and associated facilitators, barriers and sociodemographic variables in American Indians with type 2 diabetes. Topics covered include the research design and methods, sociodemographic factors associated with medication adherence and the strengths and limitations of the integrative review. It also cites the clinical implications of the findings.
