Abstract
- Functionally Graded Materials (FGMs) is a new composite material with gradients of material composition. The FGMs introduce by scientists from Sendai, Japan. The properties of FGMs used in this paper are metal and ceramic. Metal is a material that is resistant to structural flexibility, while ceramic is a material that is resistant to high temperatures. This paper presents the free vibration of FGMs beams using the Mixed Quadratic Beam (MQB) element. This paper begins with the formulation of the MQB element, then followed by numerical analysis of free vibration on FGMs beams problems. Free vibration analysis of FGMs beams is done by solving a simple supported (SS) beam with L/h=5. The results are compared to the reference solution. From the analysis, it can be concluded that the MQB element shows promising results for beams with a large number of elements. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
