Abstract
- The article discusses the relationship between the arrival of the Empire Windrush in Great Britain in 1948 and the push for Caribbean independence during the same period. It highlights the Montego Bay Conference in 1947, where Caribbean politicians and British officials agreed on the path towards independence for the British West Indies, and discusses the discrimination and hostility faced by Windrush arrivals in Britain, which further fueled the demand for Caribbean independence.
