Abstract
- Integrated management of fishery resources requires in-depth knowledge of the links and interactions between the environment and resource exploitation, respectively the management methods at ecological, biological and fisheries levels. Fisheries management is a complex operation, which includes a series of measures: fishing effort, type of gear or techniques that can be used for fishing (overall dimensions, mesh size, twine size from which the meshes are made, rigging coefficient), selectivity and retention capacity of gear, limitation of access to resources (minimum size of fish, fishing quotas, prohibited fishing season and prohibited fishing areas). In this context, the main objective of the study was to improve the selectivity of the cage type gears used for gobies fishing on the Romanian Black Sea Coast. The estimated results are those of protecting the young generations of gobies by developing measures on the minimum size of the gobies that can be retained during fishing, the minimum size of the eye of the mesh, the twin size of the wire from which the meshes are made and the optimal rigging coefficient. From the data processing, it resulted that for the retention of specimens of gobies with a minimum total length (L<subscript>min</subscript>) of 135 mm and the girth (P<subscript>min</subscript>) of 75 mm, optimal are the cages that have the outer shell made of mesh with size of the eye of 20 mm because they retain specimens of gobies with L<subscript>min</subscript> ≥ 135 mm and P<subscript>min</subscript> ≥ 75.
