Abstract

Despite crises, tool and clamping device manufacturers saw an increase in sales of 8% to around 9.9 billion euros last year. However, precision tool manufacturers struggled with shortages of materials and components. The German automotive industry, mechanical engineering, the aerospace industry, and plant construction, on the other hand, were stabilizing factors. The European tool industry was able to increase cross-border deliveries of cutting tools by 4%. The USA purchased 15% more tools. The medical technology industry proved to be stable, while furniture manufacturers suffered from inflation fears among end customers. The number of toolmaking companies in Germany is decreasing. According to experts, the year 2023 will be challenging, but there are good chances of a further production growth of 8%. [Extracted from the article]
