Abstract
- The article focuses on the costs and utility in patients with Parkinson's disease (PD) in Europe. The study was performed as part of the larger study on the cost of disorders of the brain in Europe, undertaken by the European Brain Council. It shows a coherent picture of increasing costs with disease progression although the costs are of different magnitudes. Preventing disease progression could thus be a way of not only improving the situation for the patient, but also decreasing these costs. These studies show that PD is associated with high costs, and this is likely to be true for the other European countries as well.
