Abstract

In this paper, the researcher analyzes the architecture of cultural heritage temples with a common thread with Chinese culture. The paper's objective was to explore the element of this heritage and historic temple building in the eighteenth century that stands a sustainability architecture for decades, including the interior layout based on Chinese character and the temple's architectural ornament. In order to preserve this temple so that it remains unique, renovations were carried out while adhering to the original architectural form of the Chinese character. This paper was to show the society about the architecture of the temple that had been preserved from time to time according to its original form that supports the character of Chinese culture in Jakarta. This research used observation and literature study to support pictures and data from the temple. Literature related to Chinese architecture had been reviewed to provide sufficient data for discussion about the elements of this Chinese temple. This paper shows that the temple still maintains the character of Chinese architecture form as when it was first founded and considered a form of preservation of the historic building. This study not only will give a good impact on society to recognize this temple but also be known as a sustainable architecture in the future. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
