An interdisciplinary approach has been developed for a comprehensive study of the restoration (increase) of the tree-line border. In essence, the approach is a detailed scheme in eleven steps, which can have universal application in the study of processes in the tree-line border in all mountains in Bulgaria, regardless of their specifics. The ideological basis of the campaign is the combination of specific scientific methods, such as geographic information systems (GIS methods), silvicultural methods and dendrochronological methods. The flexible, combined use of these scientific methods leads to overcoming the one-sidedness in the independent application of each of the methods and provides completeness and comprehensiveness of the scientific picture in the study of the tree-line border dynamics.
