Problems Seen from the Awareness on the Introduction and Operation of the Bus Location Systems and Examples of Problem Solving Through the Use of Data.

The bus location systems were introduced around 1980 to stem the nationwide decline in ridership. As of 2022, various types of the bus location systems have been introduced throughout Japan; however, they are not always well received by bus operators. One of the main reasons for this is the lack of understanding of the added value of the data obtained from the bus location systems and how it can be used. In this study, we conducted a survey of bus operators regarding the bus location systems. This study discovered issues related to the introduction of the bus location systems based on the results of a questionnaire survey of bus operators regarding the bus location systems. It also aims to demonstrate the value of using the bus location systems by presenting examples of problem-solving using data obtained from the bus location systems. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
