Abstract
- In recent decades, the idea of quality management has extended beyond the traditional production processes and creeped into the entire value chain. Quality management has ingressed into production and services sector alike, and its various ancillaries. Earlier, to achieve operational efficiency, the industry had adopted various tools like Lean, Kaizen, Six Sigma etc. It has resulted in an increase of 28-32% in throughput. With the advent of modern technology, new digital tools have been developed with usage across various domains, with the ulterior aim of capacity enhancement and increased efficiency. Our objective here is to take inspiration from the erstwhile traditional tools, embrace the digitization and showcase newer experiential models in higher educational sector. This should result in a marked increase in the organization's ability to gauge adaptability and effectualness of the instructions thereby imparted. Higher education is generally understood to cover teaching, research and extension activities. Scientific and technological advancement along with economic growth of a country are as dependent on higher education as they are on the working class. Hence, the pressure and demand for quality education are increasing day by day. Present system is producing learners with certificates, learners with grades but no creativity, learners with degrees but no knowledge. So the learners are facing challenges when they have to utilize the knowledge. Industries also have to spend precious time, money and energy in undoing, modifying and redoing what is learned in educational institutions. So there is a need of Total Quality Management to be implemented in the B-schools which may solve these types of problems at all levels.
