Abstract

The Urgent Need for FDA to Approve a Whole-Body Application of Ultrasound Contrast Agents To request CT or MR scan is, costly, and time consuming for the patient as well as subjects the patient to considerable more risk from the contrast agent than would exposure to an US contrast agent. UCAs have a very good safety record[[1]] having fewer adverse reactions than contrast agents for computed tomography (CT) and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). CEUS is an excellent alternative; especially in patients who cannot receive a CT or MR contrast agents due to poor renal function or prior allergic reaction and, in some cases, more sensitive and specific.
