Abstract

An unhealthy lifestyle, especially in big cities, has caused various kinds of health problems in the community, one of which is diabetes mellitus. The purpose of this study was to determine whether there was an effect of ethanol extract of Moringa (Moringa oleifera) leaves on the malondialdehyde levels of Sprague dawley rats induced by alloxan. This research is a laboratory experimental research with a true experimental approach-randomized pretest and posttest with control group. Malondialdehyde was examined by the spectrophotometer, the intervention was carried out in the integrated laboratory of the Undana Medical Faculty. Malondialdehyde levels in the negative group and the treatment group were p>0.05. Moringa leaf ethanol extract (Moringa oleifera) has antidiabetic activity by reducing malondialdehyde (MDA) levels, which is one of the markers of oxidative stress. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
