Abstract

This article provides information on two conferences on argumentation and rhetoric. The Third International Conference on Argumentation of the International Society for the Study of Argumentation will be held in Amsterdam, Netherlands from June 21-24, 1994. The aim of the conference is to draw together scholars from different countries and a variety of disciplines who are working in the field of argumentation theory. The members of the planning committee are: J. Anthony Blair of University of Windsor, Canada; Frans H. van Eemeren of University of Amsterdam; Rob Grootendorst of University of Amsterdam; and, Charles A. Willard of University of Louisville in Louisville, Kentucky. Meanwhile, Plenary speakers Shirley Brice Heath, Susan Miller, and John Swales, and other featured speakers including Thomas B. Farrell, Cheryl Geisier, Patricia Harkin, Joseph Harris, and George Myerson will be among the participants at the 13th annual Pennsylvania State Conference on Rhetoric and Composition to be held July 13-16, 1994 in State College, Pennsylvania. Scholars, researchers, and teachers of rhetoric and writing are invited to propose papers, demonstrations, panels, or workshops on any current topic in rhetoric and composition.
