Abstract

The article focuses on four art exhibitions that deal with Atlantic-world slavery. Topics include "Afro-Atlantic Histories" at the National Gallery of Art in Washington, "L'abîme" at the Château de Ducs de Bretagne in Nantes, "Slavery and the Bank" at the Bank of England in London, and "Fictions of Emancipation" at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City exploring how art can inspire political change in the future as well as the limits of broaching the abstraction of slavery.
