Abstract

Abstract—This article considers the results of a comprehensive study of the Cretaceous–Eocene deposits of Central Crimea (Mount Ak-Kaya). The temperature and salinity of the formation of Maastrichtian and Eocene rocks were determined and they were correlated with a global climatic event (Early Eocene Climatic Optimum). The synchronicity of the formation of steeply dipping submeridional fractures and the Eocene basal horizon has been confirmed. The three major deformation stages (pre-Eocene, Eocene, and post-Eocene) were identified. It has been shown that the Eocene stage corresponded to the formation of paleoseismic dislocations during the main phase of tectonic activity in the Pontides (Eastern Turkey). [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
