Abstract

The main purpose of the suspension system is to absorb the vibrations from wheels. To compromise between the two conflicting criteria i.e. road holding and ride comfort, passive suspension system is most suitable. The passenger discomfort is caused due to unwanted vibrations which are transmitted through unsprung mass. The numerical analysis using Simulink MATLAB software is used to determine Ride comfort of two suspension systems based on quarter car model. The experimental setup is developed and vibration analysis is performed using multichannel FFT analyser. The mathematical analysis result of the two different models of the suspensions is compared with experimental analysis. The aim of paper is to investigate effect of sprung mass on ride comfort at constant speed with input 0.1m peak stroke which generated a waveform resembling to half sine wave. The mathematical model is developed and analysed in Simulink MATLAB software. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
