Abstract

In this study, a low-cost method was used to make an Ag<subscript>2</subscript>CO<subscript>3</subscript>/AgCl/Cu<subscript>2</subscript>O heterostructure from a plant extract of Cissus rhombifolia leaves and a lot of sodium carbonate and chloride from drinking water. X-ray diffraction (XRD) and energy dispersive X-ray analysis (EDX) measurements confirm the presence of chlorides and carbonates in the as-prepared sample. The optical analysis outcomes show a high absorption capacity in the visible range with an optical energy gap of 2.55 eV. The anti-bacterial activity results of the as-prepared sample showed a significant inhibition effect against Escherichia coli (gram-negative) and Staphylococcus aureus (gram-positive) bacteria. The author suggests that the current study opens a great horizon for employing mineral salts in drinking water and plant extracts in the fabrication of nanomaterials. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
