Abstract

The article informs In 2022, the 'ōhi‘a lehua tree was named the official Hawaii State Endemic Tree due to its resilience and importance in Hawaiian culture and ecosystem. Despite being the most populous native tree in Hawaii, the 'ōhi‘a lehua is currently threatened by rapid 'ōhi‘a death caused by a fungal pathogen, which has the potential to wipe out entire forests, and preventative measures such as avoiding transporting 'ōhi‘a materials are encouraged.
