Abstract

The article argues that book banning in public school libraries is a violation of students' First Amendment rights, and a device employed to reinforce principles of white supremacy within the U.S. public education system. It mentions that challenged books are mostly authored by individuals from LGBTQ, discussing themes such as sexual orientation. It suggests that the First Amendment's principles can be preserved and systemic injustices that massively affect People of color communities.
