Abstract
- We have induced three types of experimental gastritis: 1. atrophic of the immunosensitive type; 2. regional papillomatous by the instillation of croton oil 0.5 per cent in alcohol-ether in equal parts, and 3. ulceration by atophan. Tissue biopsies have been stained for argentaffin cells by the modification of Barroso-Moguel to the method of Rio-Ortega. A great variety in the number and distribution of argentaffin cells has been observed. The possibility of the local effect of serotonin alterations consequent to these changes on the clinical picture and symptomatology as well as on the evolutions of the lesions observed, has been discussed.
