Abstract
- I Making Light Work i is an engaging and extremely valuable contribution to the burgeoning literature on job quality. Spencer charts a middle course between these rival traditions, arguing against the first that good work can contribute to human flourishing while arguing against the latter that much contemporary work fails dismally to contribute to this end. William Morris's ideas on how work might be rehumanized in a post-capitalist future, meanwhile, is the source for Spencer's advocacy for "light work" that occupies less time and is intrinsically more rewarding.
