Abstract

Overall, Trades Union Congress (TUC) figures show that 3.7 million workers - one in nine of the workforce - are in some form of insecure work, overwhelmingly on low pay. It's no surprise that it has been those who were praised as "pandemic heroes" who have been taking industrial action: health workers, postal workers, rail workers, teachers and so many more. Our research shows that one in six (14.6 per cent) of black and minority ethnic workers are likely to be in insecure work, compared with 11.1 per cent of white workers. [Extracted from the article]
