Abstract

Hot compressed water is recently used as a pre-treatment of biomass with many utilization. On renewable energy field, the HCW has been implemented to degrade the wasted biomass, another utilization is to recover nutrients from agricultural biomass. One of the influence of HCW treatment is the ion released from the biomass. The objective of this study is identifying the effect of temperature and holding time of HCW treatment on the ion released by the wasted biomass. Some selected ions are sodium (Na<superscript>+</superscript>), potassium (K<superscript>+</superscript>), Phosphate (PO<subscript>4</subscript><superscript>3-</superscript>) and Ammonia (NH<superscript>4+</superscript>). The HCW temperature of this study are 130, 150 and 180 degree Celsius with the holding time for 15, 30, 45, 60, 90 and 120 minutes. After the treatment, the ion of the samples are measured using ion chromatograph. The result shows that the high temperature HCW achieved high Sodium and Potassium ion released. While low phosphate and ammonia gained at temperature 130<superscript>o</superscript>C. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
