Abstract

The optically clear single crystals of pure and safranin dye-doped (0.01 and 0.05 mol percent) triglycine acetate were produced using the slow evaporation solution approach (TGA). Powder X-ray diffraction was used to analyze the crystallinity and different planes of the material. FTIR and Raman spectroscopy were used to confirm the existence of various functional groups and dopant inclusion in the crystals that were grown. In the UV-Vis-NIR absorption spectra, four distinct absorption bands were found after safranin dye was introduced to the TGA matrix. The safranin dye-doped TGA crystals did not lose weight up to 225 °C (0.01 mol percent) and 227 °C (0.05 mol percent), respectively. Safranin dye staining in TGA material resulted on an increase in dielectric constant and a decrease in dielectric loss. The doped crystals' improved optical qualities and thermal stability show that they are suitable for technological applications. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
