Abstract: Presents a summary of the surveillance conducted by the Working Party in identifying the factors which place an individual at a significantly greater risk of developing gastrointestinal cancer as of August 2, 1994. Reason the effectiveness and the potential risks of the surveillance protocol must be considered; Gene mutations that play a role in gastrointestinal carcinogenesis; Discussion on the pathology of premalignant lesions.
