Abstract

Objective: To analyze the clinical therapeutic effect of acupuncture for patient with depression after cerebral stroke and the effect on neural function of patient. Methods: A total of 60 cases of patients with depression after cerebral stroke were selected in the study. The patients were randomly divided into the control group and the observation group, with 30 cases in each group. Patients in the two groups were treated with conventional anti-depression drugs and drugs for cerebral stroke. Patients in the observation group were treated with acupuncture on the basis of conventional anti-depression drugs and drugs for cerebral stroke. Patients in the two groups were treated and observed for 3 months. The scores of Hamilton Depression Scale (HAMD) and National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS), clinical therapeutic effect and changes of score of quality of life of cerebral stroke patient in the two groups were observed and compared before and after treatment. Results: After 3 months of treatment, the scores of NIHSS and HAMD significantly decreased comparing with those before treatment. Moreover, the scores of NIHSS and HAMD of the observation group were significantly lower than those of the control group, and the differences were statistically significant (P < 0.05). After 3 months of treatment, the total effective rate of depression in the observation group was significantly higher than that in the control group, and the difference was statistically significant (P < 0.05). After 3 months of treatment, the total effective rate of cerebral stroke in the observation group was significantly higher than that in the control group, and the difference was statistically significant (P < 0.05). After 3 months of treatment, the quality of life of patients in the two groups increased comparing with that before treatment. Moreover, the quality of life of patients in the observation group was significantly higher than that in the control group, and the difference was statistically significant (P < 0.05). Conclusion: Acupuncture can effectively increase the neural function of patient with depression after cerebral stroke, decrease the depressive emotion of patients, and improve clinical therapeutic effect and quality of life of patients. The therapeutic method has relatively high clinical value. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
