I As of Oct. 12, 2022 i Dr. Randenka Maric has been appointed President of the University of Connecticut and has served as interim president of the University of Connecticut since Feb. 1. A faculty member at Duquesne since 2003, Dr. Gawalt is a Hillman Distinguished Professor and formerly served as chair of the school's chemistry and biochemistry departments. Dr. Maric is the second woman to serve as president of the university Dr. Tonya Smith-Jackson has been named Provost at North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University and has worked for North Carolina A&T since 2013.
