Abstract

The Tiered Protocol for Endocrine Disruption (TiPED) is a new protocol being developed to improve regulations for endocrine-disrupting chemicals (EDCs). These chemicals can have harmful effects on human health and the environment, even at low concentrations. TiPED consists of five testing tiers to evaluate the potential endocrine disruption of chemicals, saving time and resources by only conducting expensive testing on a small fraction of chemicals. The proposed European "Chemical Strategy for Sustainability" also emphasizes the need for safer chemicals and supports funding for sustainable replacements for hazardous chemicals.
