Abstract
- Examines the arguments of the Roman orator and philosopher Marcus Tullius Cicero against divination and prophecy. His mention of a case involving the prophecy of death given by a Delphic oracle to Daphitas the Sophist and Philip of Macedon; Evident ability of Cicero to discern the cause of death of the pirate Icadius without a written prophecy; Infliction of the penalty known as leg-breaking on Roman pirates.
