Optimization and simulation approach for containers handling problem for al faw port.

Abstract
- The Faw port was designed to be one of the great ten ports in the world, it connects Asia and Euro countries. There are more than 10 Million containers can be received each year. Therefore, storing these containers in the yard produces an optimization problem, which is a container handling problem (CHP). We propose a new method to solve handling problems that are designed and simulated depend on the Faw port requirements. The idea is to add a parameter to each container is a departure time. Therefore, it can be ranging the containers in the yard depending on the departure time to reduce the number of shuffling and retrieving the containers. The proposed method uses many roles to sort the container in the yard, then simulate the movement of containers from the yard crane to the yard side. Also, we compare the results of the proposed method with the traditional method to prove the efficient of the proposed method. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
