Abstract: Reports that the Kenya government has allocated $170 million to revamp the ailing National Bank of Kenya (NBK) and prepare it for privatization. Scheduled completion of the restructuring in June 2004; World Bank's warning that it may discontinue giving Kenya budgetary support unless the money is used for NBK restructuring; Requirement for the government expenditure to match the Poverty Recovery Strategy Paper.
