Abstract

The article examines scholarly inquiry into literary fiction in the U.S. from the 1960s to the 1980s. Topics discussed include Douglas Mao's study on the relationship between labor and utopian political theory in the works of authors Ursula K. Le Guin and Samuel R. Delany, scholarly interest in the figure of the child in the early 2000s, and James B. Haile's exploration of the hypervisibility and invisibility of Black maleness in fiction.
