Abstract

Late-onset mania can be the prominent manifestation of Lewy body disease. The presence of Lewy-related symptoms provided the opportunity to suspect underlying Lewy body disease. On neuroimaging, "indicative biomarkers of dementia with Lewy bodies (DLB)" defined in the criteria1 (i.e., dopamine transporter single photon emission computed tomography [DaT SPECT] with SP 123 sp I-ioflupane and SP 123 sp iodine-metaiodobenzylguanidine [MIBG] myocardial scintigraphy), revealed overtly reduced uptake, indicating the underlying Lewy pathology.
