Depistarea insectei Corythucha arcuata (Say, 1832) (Hemiptera, Tingidae) prin procedee de atracție olfactivă și cromatică.

Corythucha arcuata is an insect species with North American origins which was first reported in Europe, in Italy in 2000 and in Romania in 2015. The insect's preference is to grow on oak host trees and feed with their leaves, but it has also been reported on other deciduous species. During 2020-2021, in order to implement an early detection system for Corythucha arcuata, we tested the adults’ attraction to sticky traps both from a chromatic and olfactory point of view. In 2020 we tested how to attract adults from a chromatic point of view, through sticky traps with two-colors (yellow and white), and from an olfactory perspective by priming the sticky traps with ethanol. The 2021 experiment was based on testing the method of detecting the insect through olfactory attraction means by capturing adults on white sticky traps which were primed with three commercial variants of scented laundry softener (Forest, Evrika, and Lenor). The 2020 experiment showed that from a chromatic perspective the insect has a certain preference for the color yellow and from an olfactory point of view it prefers sticky traps primed with ethanol. The 2021 experiment showed that, in terms of olfactory preferences, the most catches were recorded on sticky traps primed with Evrika and Lenor balm that contain certain chemical compounds (Citronellon, Limonene, Linalool, etc.) in addition to Forest balm. Based on the first experiments, expeditious methods could be developed for the early detection of the C. arcuata insect through olfactory and chromatic attraction procedures. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
