Abstract

This article discusses improving the use and safety of medications in women through sex/gender and race/ethnicity analysis. The Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality is committed to improving the safety, quality, effectiveness, and efficiency of healthcare for all Americans. Of particular relevance to the Agency is the safe and appropriate use of medications to prevent adverse drug events and enhance therapeutic outcomes. Because women use more medications than men, women are more likely to experience adverse drugs events.
