Abstract

Optimal nutritional management after esophagectomy for cancer is still in question. Although feeding jejunostomy tube (JT) is the most widely use procedure after esophagectomy, a rate of 28 to 38% of JT-related complications has been reported.[1] Non-occlusive small bowel ischemia (NOSBI) is a scarce but serious complication after esophagectomy possibly related to feeding JT. Publications have been restricted only to case reports.[2] The aim of this study was to assess the impact of postoperative feeding JT on NOSBI occurrence after esophagectomy for cancer.
