Abstract

Different current reasons, like global warming due to greenhouse gases and high energy prices, creates the necessity to make the heating systems in large cities more efficient. The present paper presents a real situation for an urban agglomeration, regarding the transition from a centralized heating system to a decentralized one. Two types of decentralized possibilities are discussed and analyzed taking into account especially the CO<subscript>2</subscript> emissions, during several recent years. In this respect, a calculus of CO<subscript>2</subscript> emissions from the former heating system, compared to the present heating systems is also presented and discussed. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
