Abstract

This article presents information on the psychological testing method related to community placement scale, an adaptation of the Community Competence Scale (CCS) for placement of the deinstitutionalized mentally ill. The CCS originally was developed as a measure of legal competence in the elderly. From a theoretical perspective, the CCS might constitute the basis of a valid index of community adjustment in the mentally ill because the deinstitutionalized mentally ill and the elderly share many issues in community adjustment.
