Abstract

The article focuses on the stylistic aggression patterns for large and small delinquents. Aggressiveness in this article is confined to overt verbal and physical acts that infringe on the rights of others and are likely to generate negative consequences for delinquents. Such aggressive behavior results from the interaction among a person's attributes and behaviors, observers' evaluations, and situational factors. In this study, two aggression-evoking simulation situations were developed to which situations differed in the type of social goal set for the delinquent. One task assessed the delinquent's verbal assertiveness, and the second task focused on the ability to control verbal assertion in a frustrating situation. In order to examine positive and negative aggression coping styles for delinquents of varying physical size, four groups were compared.
