Abstract

Keywords: rice; endosperm development; SHMT; SAMS2; methylation EN rice endosperm development SHMT SAMS2 methylation 1438 1440 3 08/03/22 20220801 NES 220801 Endosperm stores starch and proteins in cereal crop seeds, providing a major calorie source for human consumption. Compared with WT, CG, CHG and CHH methylations were higher in I flo20-1 i (Figure 1s, Table S2), suggesting a possible role of SHMT4 in endosperm DNA methylation. Given that SHMT4 contains an SHMT domain, we determined whether I SHMT4 i loss affected the SHMT enzymatic activity, and found that more than 64% of SHMT activity was abolished in I flo20-1 i (Figure 1i).
