Abstract

By analyzing the bibliographic information of natural science papers, we propose a method to discover the science that is the starting point of scientific innovation in the shortest period of time from its occurrence. Specifically, taking gallium nitride research in blue LED development research as an example, we attempt to discover the science that became the starting point by observing the change in the cumulative number of papers and the cooccurrence of author keywords. Based on the cumulative number of papers, we found that the science started around 1990. The co-occurrence of the author keywords during this period suggests that the MOCVD production method may have contributed to the growth of gallium nitride research. The co-occurrence pattern of MOCVD is also unique in that it bridges other keywords. The fact that this research was conducted by Nakamura, who was awarded the Nobel Prize in Physics, also confirms the certainty of this method. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
