Abstract

The world of education for international mindedness is ever evolving and subject to new forces resulting from globalisation. Communities demand of schools that children be educated in this sphere but this is not straightforward. The role of the nation state in directing education is changing and this has implications for those that have the responsibility for selecting theoretical frameworks, content, pedagogies, and assessment -- who and how they are selected. There is no clear understanding of the terminology, let alone the specific values, concepts, attitudes, and behaviours that underpin education of this sort. This article is an attempt to analyse some of the global factors that influence education for international mindedness globally and in Australia. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
