Abstract
- The article reports that torrential rain that battered the West Coast for nearly two weeks, triggering deadly mudslides and damaging floodwaters, caused dozens of golf courses to close and had work crews at Torrey Pines GC in La Jolla, California, site of this week's Buick Invitational, scurrying to make the course playable. Eric Lohman, general manager of Black Gold GC in Yorba Linda, ordered some employees to stay home. Mario Aguiar, superintendent at the 36-hole Cimarron Golf Resort in Palm Springs, told the Desert Sun damage to his facility was very extensive.
